Takis chips are one of the most popular kinds of chip products, particularly for those who love spicy snacks. There are many different varieties of this unique little tortilla chip, and Zombie Takis were one of the most popular seasonal treats that the company has ever made. Sadly, the chips are discontinued, but you can still get them from various online companies that sell these kinds of products to consumers.

This was a habanero chip that became a huge viral sensation nearly overnight due to TikTok when it was first released. History

Takis is a Mexican brand of tortilla chip that is made by Grupo Bimbo. The chips are meant to be like taquitos, and they come in colorful, noticeable bags covered in graphics and fun text. The company also makes potato chips, corn stix, popcorn, and peanut products. In the US, Takis are sold under the brand name Barcel. This company sells and distributes a wide array of different products from other countries with licensing agreements. The company name has become synonymous with spicy foods, however, and most people associate Barcel with products that are spicier than average.

While this product was originally targeted specifically at the Hispanic demographic, it is a huge hit in the US with all kinds of consumers. You can usually find Takis in the Mexican food aisles at the grocery store, but Takis are also on offer at gas stations and other kinds of stores all around the country. There are many, many flavors of Takis, most of them spicy. This is one of the products that those with a delicate palette probably won’t enjoy, but you might be surprised at just how addictive they are if you can handle some spice in your snacks.

Barcel offers most of the Takis products in both 4 oz bags and 9.9 oz bags. Many regions of the US seem to be stocked with just one size of the products that they order, and it is quite common to see just the smaller bags in gas stations and other places where people are buying on the go. Many people are not even aware that there are larger bags because the smaller size is the most common way that the product is sold. If you choose to order online, you can get access to both product sizes through the Barcel website. However, Zombie Takis will be absent from your purchasing options if you go straight to Barcel’s site for your Takis order.

Zombie Takis were first offered for sale during the fall/Halloween season in 2019. The company probably didn’t expect them to be a huge hit, and they certainly didn’t count on TikTok becoming the vehicle that made the product go viral. Taste testing this habanero treat became a huge sensation, and many, many uploads of videos of influencers and TikTok users trying the spicy seasonal treat went viral.

Another part of the reason that this seasonal variety of Takis was such a huge hit was because of the clever packaging, but the habanero flavor was also a big draw. Takis have long held a reputation for being spicier than most of the other foods in the chip aisle, and many people buy the spiciest flavors just to see if they can manage to eat them.

The intent of the flavor of Zombie Takis was to be spicy but also to have a “refreshing” note that was added with some cucumber flavoring. There are not many other chip products like a Zombie Taki, and salsa lovers everywhere were instantly enchanted with this unique chip flavor. Many people did agree that the cucumber notes were actually really refreshing, and this was probably one of the most commented-upon aspects of the chips when they were tried out by those making videos about tasting them for the first time.

Zombie Takis sold out much more rapidly than expected, and many people didn’t get a chance to try them out before they were pulled from shelves at the end of the Halloween season in 2019. There were a couple of years when you could not get a bag of Zombie Takis, even if you wanted to. That is unless you were willing to order off of eBay with the hope that the chips in the bag you had just purchased were not stale!

However, online sellers did pick up the flavor, and you can now order Zombie Takis from a variety of different locations online. While you probably won’t see a bag of Zombie Takis in the wild at your local grocery store, you can at least pick some up by ordering them online. It remains to be seen if the Zombie Taki will come back for future Halloween appearances. It’s possible that they will remain a special-order variety of this popular chip brand forever without being brought back for seasonal attention again.

Takis continue to be made in new and exciting, as well as spicy, flavors, so it’s also possible that the company is just working on a new seasonal type of Takis to share with those who love the brand. It sounds like Zombie Takis were purchased in large numbers by various online sellers of snacks, but it remains to be seen if there will be Zombie Takis to replace their stocks of these chips once they run out. If you want to give this flavor a try, you had better order some before they are gone for good!

Livery

The livery of this product has always been a huge part of its appeal to consumers. Takis always come in very bright, colorful bags that include shiny segments as well as huge lettering and fun graphics. The Zombie Takis bag is dark green in color, with gold accents that are shiny at the top of the bag. The Takis brand name is emblazoned in huge font across the front of the bag, and it declares “zombie” as the flavor underneath the Takis logo. This font is white that is smudged with black, which has become code for zombies or paranormal activity due to popular culture.

The bottom right corner of the bag states that the product inside is, “ZOMBIE NITRO FLAVOR”. Above this, the bag indicates that the flavor is Habanero Cucumber. In the middle of the bottom part of the bag, there is a black zombie hand reaching up toward the logo and the ZOMBIE lettering.

The bag is properly spooky and very fun and gives you a great idea of what you are in for. Opening the bag reveals bright green chips that immediately die the inside of your mouth green to match. Lots of different kinds of Takis are flavored with brightly-colored flavoring powder, and this product is no different.
