It is believed that the Nutter Butter cookies were made in the 1910s by the Tuskegee Institute of Alabama’s Tuskegee. The recipe was created by George Washington Carver. He also managed to publish a cookbook. George was the advocate of farmers’ abandoning the cotton crops after the heavy boll weevil attack happened. The cookbook was once again mainly published to support all this.
Sadly, this information isn’t 100% accurate. However, sources state that the creator of the Nutter Butter was William Turnier. He is also known for designing Oreo cookie shapes. He was working as a design engineer for Nabisco back then. It is believed that he was the one who created the cookie’s shape, pattern, and general idea around it. However, Nabisco states that the creator of the cookie visual concept is not known.
The cookies are claimed to be documented in the early 1900s. It seems like it was made way before the brand started the manufacturing process. Nutter Butters’ first appearance on the market was in 1969. It is an American candy brand, with its main product being peanut butter cookies. Currently, the brand owner is Nabisco, which is functioning under Mondelez International Company. The main target markets for the cookies are the United States and Canada. Nutter Butters were also taken to Canada in 2020. Just like many other products of Nabisco, this one is also sold under the Christie Brand name.

Hello, having a discussion with co-workers while I’m eating my Nutter Butter Waffers. The crispy ones that comes in a long package stacked 3 high. Once breaking them apart you’ll have 48 squares.
